Cyndi Lauper Acts In, Writes Song For "Here And There"
It looks like pop star Cyndi Lauper doesn't need "The Celebrity Apprentice" to keep her busy. Lauper plays Rose, a small role in the Serbian film "Here And There," which goes into limited release in the U.S. this Friday. The Grammy-winner also wrote an original song -- also titled "Here And There" -- for the film's soundtrack. The film features two storylines that connect New York City to Serbia. In one, Robert, a down-and-out New Yorker played by Lauper's real-life husband, David Thornton, travels to Serbia in pursuit of quick cash. In another, a Serbian immigrant to America tries to avoid getting "lost in the shuffle" of America's Big Apple. Antone Pagan also stars. "Here And There" is not rated.
In related news, Lauper will release an LP of blues material on her 57th birthday. Lauper's "Memphis Blues" will debut on June 22nd. |
