Poison Drummer Celebrates Freedom With Charity Fundraiser
Poison rocker Rikki Rockett is celebrating his freedom. The drummer hosted the "Rikki Rockett Is Exonerated Party" in Valencia, California on Saturday. The charity event follows Rockett's recent exoneration of rape charges. The rocker was arrested in March after a woman claimed he forced himself on her in a hotel room at a Mississippi casino last September. Last month the Neshoba County District Attorney dropped all the charges after determining that Rockett couldn't have committed the crime, as he hadn't been in Mississippi at all during September 2007. Had the case gone to trial and Rockett been convicted, he could have been sentenced to life in prison. Money raised from the "Rikki Rockett Is Exonerated Party" is going to Centurion Ministries, an organization that works to help set free and clear the names of people wrongly. The event included a motorcycle ride, barbecue, auction, and concert. Rockett says in a post on his MySpace page that he, quote, "couldn't be happier" with how things went, noting he's particularly pleased with the auction's success. He adds that he's hoping to make his Centurion Ministries fundraiser an annual event.
