Solomon Burke's New Album
Solomon Burke is working on a new album. The soul legend tells Billboard.com that he tapped several famous friends to help out on the upcoming "Like a Fire," including Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, and Keb' Mo'. He says it wasn't difficult to get the star power on the disc, noting that all he had to do was ask. Burke adds that he actually got two tracks from Clapton -- the title track, which Slowhand penned after receiving the invite to contribute to the project, and another cut which Burke admits he wasn't expecting. He explains that Clapton pitched the idea of collaborating on the song, saying he had the music down but didn't have time to finish the lyrics. Burke notes they polished off the tune together, which became the song "Thank You." "Like a Fire" is slated for release on June 10th. Burke is planning to hit the road in support of the CD, starting with a show in Detroit on May 23rd. |
