Global Warming is Killing People (just not the way you think)

un2If you have been paying any attention at all you probably have heard that there’s a new problem being caused by global warming. That problem is food shortages caused by the diversion of North American grain harvests to ethanol production.

According to the UN, it takes the same amount of corn to fill a gas tank once as it does to feed a child for a year.

So where is the new love affair with bio fuels going to lead the world? The term is unintended consequences, which translates to mean, conflict, genocide and global war.

To all who think the war in Iraq was a mistake (and I count myself in that group) get ready, because the biggest war is coming and the cause and blame will be our own arrogance and short sightedness.

People fight for their survival, and when they have no food, they fight like hell. It was food and water shortages that convinced peaceful Buddhist pastoralists to make war in Vietnam, and it will be food shortages that could spark the new global war, of tribe against tribe, city against city, and country against country.

Do we have some hard decisions about current and future energy needs? You bet we do, but causing mass starvation isn’t the answer.

I’m all for getting the country off oil, not because of any of the claims by global warming alarmists, but because that industry is and has engaged in the largest moneymaking scam ever to be perpetrated, but bio fuels are not the answer and will not solve that problem.

Do you want to reduce oil consumption? Then contact your senator and congressman and demand that they pass laws requiring higher fuel efficiency standards. Car manufactures know how to do it. 135 miles to the gallon, or better, can be done, as soon as the public demands it.

When it comes down to it, there isn’t time for us to just wait and see how this turns out. The time for individual action is now. It is up to every person to learn what they can and do what they must. We will either act to save ourselves or we will live with the consequences of our own inaction. The time is now. Do something!
