Oil and the active propaganda campaign!

oil2I guess that I’m a little bothered that so many on the right are coming to the defense of big oil, in attempts to justify the outrageous scam that is currently being perpetrated on the American people.

How is it possible that increased demand coupled with a volatile commodities market results in record profits? Increased demand could be met with increased production, and oil could be removed from the commodities exchange all together, as it was in India.

Here’s another of my favorites. There are some who love to point out that Exxon Mobil is taxed at about 44% and that Mobil’s total US tax bill exceeded its US revenues by $19 billion. But they do not continue to say they are then permitted to deduct the taxes they pay to foreign governments from their US tax bill, and that the industry is subsidized with US tax payer money to the tune of Billions every year.

I guess the worst part is that these oil barons seem to have no shame or compassion for the people of this country. Increased fuel costs are killing the average person and the average American business. And what advice are they given?

They are told to cut their consumption.

How can they do that? Should people drive half the way to work and then walk the rest of the way? Should FedEx use bicycles? For those who use home heating oil, should the family rotate who gets heat and who doesn’t?

Just so it’s on the record, we already have cut consumption. Any more cuts will stop production.

This is not an issue of Right and Left. It is an issue of right and wrong, and what is going on is wrong. The Administration has cleared a path for big oil to rape, pillage and steal from the American people. And it has all gone too far.

The time for action is now, write and call your congressman and senator and tell them enough is enough. Don’t defend these criminals anymore and start doing something for the American people, because we are being pushed into a corner, from which we have only one course of action.

We are at the edge of a precipices looking over the edge, and it is a long way to fall indeed.
