Take control of Irritable Bowel!

irr2Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects a huge number of Americans and seems to affect more everyday. This fact has not been overlooked by the medical community who are constantly in the process of developing new treatments and products to help those who suffer from the disease.

Despite the serious attention there is still a reluctance by the medical community to examine the effects of foods on those who suffer from irritable bowel. Although it seems to be common sense that the foods we eat might have an effect on someone with digestive problems, it is surprising to learn how many medical professions claim no link between foods and irritable bowel symptoms.

Consider trying the following:

Start by fasting for a period of days to get yourself to a “clean slate” so to speak.

From there start reintroducing products into your diet one at a time, one day at a time. The idea is by introducing products into your diet one at a time is you have the chance to see how that product effects you, first on a physical level and secondly on a hormonal level.

After introducing the product, ask yourself, how that product made you feel. Does your stomach feel irritated after eating that product, and secondly did that product produce any psychological effects that were undesirable. (As example, when I did this, two of the things that I discovered were that wheat products were very irritating to my stomach and that potato chips made me angry).

Go through the foods you eat one at a time, introducing one new food a day. Really pay attention to how you feel after you eat the product.

By doing this you should be able to very accurately learn what foods agree with you and what foods do not. Once you have established what foods are agreeable to you, from there you can start to look at vitamin supplements and herbal products to help you with any symptoms that you may still be experiencing.

But, start by taking a serious look at the food you eat. Once you have your list of agreeable foods you may also want to start looking at organic products. Countless new food additives and preservatives are introduced into the American diet every year. By going organic, you can avoid those chemicals, which really haven’t been in use long enough to know their real effects, particularly on those who suffer from irritable bowel.
