What to Wear to a Spring Wedding

Spring is traditionally known as the start of the wedding season. So it weddingmay not be uncommon for you to get one or more wedding invites this year. Everyone wants to stay fashionable and trendy at a wedding yet there are rules guests must follow. Here are a few tips on what to wear to a springtime wedding.

The old saying “a little bit goes a long way” may have been one of the most frequently used slogans in the past. Yet this virtue is a tried and true rule to follow when getting ready for a wedding. Dress up, don’t dress out. Weddings are meant to make the bride stand out among everyone else, not her guests. When choosing a dress to wear make sure it is modest. Stay away from short or strapless dresses; show as little skin as possible. Let the bride be the focus, it is her day after all.

Choose a dress with bright, fresh colors. Spring weddings usually call for pastel pinks and yellows or baby blues. Black can even be worn but be sure not to wear all black. Let your shoes or bag have some color. Always stay away from white or off white dresses. You will match the bride and she will not be too thrilled!

Keep any sequins and heavy prints to a minimum. Springtime weddings should reflect the warm weather so try to keep everything light. Light beading is most appropriate for a spring wedding. Do not wear anything flashy! Dresses should flow and be made of cotton, chiffon or possibly silk. Once again you want to keep the attention on the bride, not you.

In today’s fashion world, it is acceptable for women to wear suit pants to a wedding if need be. These should be classy in either black or a pastel color. Never ever wear denim to a wedding. It’s tasteless and shows your extreme lack of sense of style. Besides, the couple would not be happy with you.
