Cavaliers Step Off of the Court and Onto the Dance Floor to Cut a Rug with Local Senior Citizens |
| |
With springtime comes family outings, the pouring of rain to wash away the remains of winter, the budding of sweet and gorgeous flowers and the revival of the urge to get your dance on! Cavalier players J. J. Hickson and Baron Davis, along with Head Coach Byron Scott, spread dance fever to residents of The Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center in Broadview Heights on Saturday night.
The trio hosted a Spring Dance at the facility where residents juked and jived to tunes of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s – music that stirred many nostalgic moments in the memories of those in attendance. The evening was filled with laughter, smiles, yummy desserts and plenty of groovin’. The room was outfitted with wine and gold décor, and Cavaliers mascot, Moondog, popped in to literally “shake his tail” while fellow mascot Sir C.C. showed off his best cha-cha.
“Oh, I just loved it! It was a thrill,” said resident Pat Whaley. “My daughters are going to be so jealous when I tell them I got to dance with J.J. Hickson!”
The fling had all the elements of a typical high school spring dance. The Cavs even brought along a photographer who captured lasting memories with framed pictures for each resident to keep.
“This was the biggest event we’ve had in the facility, ever! There were residents dancing who typically never get out of their chairs!” said Liz Pencak, director of marketing and admissions for The Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center. “In the long run, this is a memory that they will take with them forever.”
